Undergraduate Research Day

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University will host the annual Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day, sponsored by the Centennial Honors College, Wednesday, April 19 in the University Union.
Undergraduate Research Day provides a forum for undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity. Students are encouraged to showcase and express their talents. To participate, a student must write and submit an abstract project in the field of their choice.
Undergraduate Research Day provides three categories for showcasing students' talents, including performance presentations, poster presentations and podium presentations.
• Performance Presentations can include, but are not limited to, original dance routines, acrobatic drills, instrumental demonstrations, vocal solos, choral arrangements, jazz ensembles and piano duets.
• Poster Presentations allow students to display their artwork, poetry or research findings on poster boards that are set up in the University Union Grand Ballroom. Poster presentations are not restricted to any particular topic, major, pedagogy or methodology.
• Podium Presentations allow students to communicate their ideas and research findings verbally, which may include audio and visual aids such as graphs, charts, photographs and recordings.
All projects selected will be recognized and first, second and third place awards will be presented to those judged "best projects."
