March's First Wednesday Art Classes Planned for March 1

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Art will host another session of First Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

The event is open to anyone who wants to experience art. This month's schedule includes:

•Professors Julie Mahoney, Jan Clough and Bill Howard will teach about embossing on the press in Garwood Hall, room 13.

•Professor Susan Czechowski will explore mythical creatures exquisite corpses in Garwood Hall, room 11.

• Associate Professor Ta-teh Ku will help children create corn mosaics in Garwood Hall, room 24.

• Professor Terry Rathje will bring back the 1970s with his "old school" poster making workshop in Garwood Hall, room 22.

• Professor Jenny Knavel will create "antiqued" photo portraits in Garwood Hall, room 37.

• Professor Damon McArthur will explore the process of painting with a palette knife in Garwood Hall, room 30.

•Professor Ian Shelly will lead an exhibition of the art of throwing clay on the potter's wheel in the ceramics studio, room 111, of the Heating Plant Annex.

•Professor Kat Myers will create wire wrapped rings and bracelets in room 107 in the Heating Plant Annex.

• An exhibition of art created by Western Illinois University Professor Tim Waldrop, called "Stomping Ground," will be on display in the gallery of the Heating Plant Annex.
