MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University will host the 44th International Bazaar Saturday, March 4, from 5-10 p.m. in the University Grand Ballroom, located in the University Union.

Travel the world and visit booths that represent countries from different nationalities. Each participant will receive a "passport" to get stamped as they sample authentic cuisine while they move from booth-to-booth. There will also be entertainment, including world music, performances by students, and a fashion show displaying beautiful traditional clothing from different cultures.

Participants will be able to explore the international marketplace for purchasing souvenirs and goods from the event. The "Kids Craft Corner" will be open from 5-8 p.m., so children can make arts and crafts that are taught from different cultures.

"The International Bazaar is one of my favorite events that is held at WIU because it supports WIU's commitment to diversity and to our students," said Dana Vizdal, assistant director of the Center for International Studies, which helps coordinate the International Bazaar. "Participants are able to ‘travel the world' and experience a range of cultures in one evening. As is tradition, there will be booths representing different countries and cultures, authentic food cooked by the students and a variety of performances. This year we will have a small passport book to encourage the participants to engage with each booth and get their passport stamped."

Admission is $5 for the public, $2 for students with a valid WIU ID, and $2 for youth ages 5-12. Children 4 and under are admitted free.
The International Bazaar is sponsored by Western's International Friendship Club and the Center for International Studies.
