MACOMB, IL – Glenwood High School senior Ryan Barham, of Chatham (IL), has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Barham hopes to major in engineering.

"It's hard to pin down why I selected Western: the size, proximity to home, small classes and low student-to-faculty ratio are all strong pros, but the value is probably the biggest factor," said Barham. "The fact that I can get such an excellent school for such a reasonable price is huge for me. Western is a wonderful, all-around kind of school. If you want something, odds are Western's got it."

In high school, Barham participated in swim team, book club, Titan Fever Show Choir, Fusion Jazz Choir and the concert choir.

After graduation from Western, Barham has a desire to develop mechanical implants for prosthetics patients and other medical advancements.
