MACOMB, IL -- Show your love for the Western Illinois University Dance Marathon (DM) by registering for the 2017 event, which will be held Saturday, April 1 as the culminating event for year-long fundraising efforts for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

WIU students, faculty, staff and organizations -- along with community-based organizations -- can register to participate in the 12-hour Dance Marathon, which honors the 12-hour shifts of doctors and nurses, as well as children who are unable to stand. Dance Marathon board members will be set up in the Union Concourse from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Feb. 15-16 to register participants. Individuals who sign up that day will receive a valentine with a promo code for $5 off the $25 registration fee. The promo/discount code will be active only on Thursday, Feb. 16. Proceeds from all fundraisers and the final event go to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

"People who register that day can also fill out a heart to state why they love and support the Dance Marathon," said Reagan Meyers, DM director of dancer relations (recruitment). "Our goal during the three-day registration push is to add 100 dancers to the April 1 event."

Individuals who wish to participate, but cannot make it to the three-day Union registration event can register online at tinyurl.com/wiudm17.

Western's Dance Marathon is entering its fourth year on the WIU campus, with this year's goal set at $100,000. Donations are welcome, and may be made by visiting tinyurl.com/wiudm17 or emailing dancemarathon@wiu.edu. Last year's event raised $70,800.
