MACOMB, IL – High school senior Rebecca Ruder, of Ransom, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room and meal plan at the school.

"I selected WIU because of its renowned nursing program and the great value of its education," said Ruder.

At Western, Ruder plans to major in pre-nursing. While at Western, she plans on exploring opportunities in club softball and other clubs.

In high school, Ruder participated in many clubs, including FCCLA, FFA, Spanish Club, Peer Advisors, National Honor Society and Student Council. She also played softball, basketball and volleyball.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must have a minimum ACT score of 30 and have already received WIU's Centennial Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by the proof of volunteer and community service.
