MACOMB, IL – Funeral services for Western Illinois University Professor Emeritus Wendell Swanson will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. He passed away in Macomb on Dec. 31.

Family visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 10:45 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Swanson joined the faculty at Western in 1955 and served as a professor of industrial education and technology, chair of the WIU Department of Industrial Education, assistant dean in the College of Applied Sciences, director of the University Press, director of the WIU Vocational Education Program and co-director of the Curriculum Revitalization Project. He retired from WIU in July 1991.

A 1949 graduate of Western High School, Swanson received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western and his doctoral degree from the University of Maryland.

Swanson is survived by his wife, Bettye; his daughter, Laura Leezer; his son, Ken Swanson and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the WIU College of Business and Technology Scholarship Fund, MDH Hospice or the Macomb Bomber Boosters.
