MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University Chief Clerk Jenni Hamlin has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for December.

Hamlin was hired as an extra help clerical assistant for the WIU Bookstore in August 2009, and then served as an extra help clerical assistant for the WIU Department of Women's Studies from October-December 2009. In December 2009, she was hired as a full-time clerk in women's studies and in December 2013 she was reclassified to her current chief clerk position in women's studies.

According to her nominator, her personality traits and stability are built on an "incredible work ethic."

"Her office has experienced a lot of transition this past summer and into the semester," the nominator said. "We feel fortunate turning her loose on certain aspects so co-workers can focus on other things. She does what needs to be done for her office and she does it well. She goes well beyond what has to be done and uses her personality to create a comfortable and inviting environment."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Connie Lincoln at CM-Lincoln@wiu.edu.
