Career Conversations at WIU-QC

MOLINE, IL -- Students at the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus can learn how to better prepare for a career through the WIU-QC Career Conversations Student Success Series, which begins Wednesday, Sept. 14.

The 30-45 minute workshops, which are held in QC Complex room 1418, are open to WIU students and alumni.

Fall 2016 Career Conversations Series:

Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2:30-3:30 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 22, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Resume 101. Learn how to create the best marketing tool.

Thursday, Sept. 15, 11 a.m.-noon, Working with Staffing Agencies. What do they do and how to connect with them in a job search? Learn from a local third party staffing professional.

Tuesday, Sept. 20, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Getting LinkedIn. Learn more about LinkedIn and how it can be used in a job search.

Monday, Sept. 26, 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 27, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Are You Career Fair Ready?

Tuesday, Sept. 27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Walk-in Resume Review Days Stop by Student Services to have a resume reviewed before the Career Fair. Free resume paper provided.

Thursday, Sept. 29, 1:30-4 p.m., Riverfront Hall, Fall Career Fair. Professional dress required.

Thursday, Oct. 20, 3 p.m., Navigating USAJobs. Learn from an Rock Island Arsenal HR specialist on how to use the USAJobs (federal) application system and how to write a federal resume.

Tuesday, Oct. 11, 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2:30 p.m. Ace that Interview! Gain confidence in interviewing skills through the STAR technique and other methods.

Thursday, Dec. 1, 3:30 p.m. I'm Graduating! Now What? Discussion regarding the next steps to prepare for the world of work.
