Shakespeare Film Festival Comes to WIU

MACOMB, IL - In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death and in celebration of his life and works, Western Illinois University will host a monthly Shakespeare film series on Wednesdays during the fall semester, with each film beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the University Union's Sandburg Theatre.

The #Shakespeare400 Film Series is sponsored by the WIU departments of English and History and the Veterans Resource Center. Each film will conclude with a brief interdisciplinary panel discussion featuring speakers from the WIU departments of English, History and Theatre and the Veterans Club.

This semester's films include:

• Sept. 7 – "Much Ado About Nothing" (BBC Shakespeare-Told, 2005)

• Oct. 5 – "Henry V" (Hollow Crown, season one, episode four, 2013)

• Nov. 9 – "Macbeth" (See-Saw Films, 2015)

• Dec. 7 – "Hamlet" (Royal Shakespeare Company, 2009)
