MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University and the city of Macomb will present a variety of entertainment and a fireworks display as part of the annual Fourth of July presentation, Monday, July 4 in Q-Lot at WIU.

The celebration was moved from Hanson Field to Q-Lot to allow for easier access to the event's entertainment and to encourage more of a community gathering. Events begin at 5 p.m. and entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m.

This year's entertainment includes performances by the Macomb Municipal Band and the River City Country Opry band from Havana (IL). The entertainment stage will be set up in the southwest corner of Q-Lot, and food vendors will be set up on the south side of the lot.

The annual fireworks display is scheduled to begin about 9 p.m. In case of rain, the fireworks show will be held at 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 5.

"We've been working extra hard to ensure this year's Fourth of July celebration is more of a community gathering and celebration," said Macomb Mayor Mike Inman. "We are grateful for the partnership we have with WIU and for the use of its facilities."
