MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Council of Academic Advisors (COAA) has named Jennifer Tibbitts the March Advisor of the month and Ellen Poulter the April Advisor of the Month.

Tibbitts, assistant director of the Bachelor of Arts in General Studies (BGS) program, was nominated by Daniel Hastings, her advisee who graduated in May 2016 with an interdisciplinary studies degree.

"Jennifer Tibbitts has gone well above and beyond my expectations. I am in awe of her efforts," said Hastings. "Jennifer transcended her role of advisor and extended her duties to billing, customer service, mediator, researcher and friend. Without Jennifer I would never have had the confidence, support or diploma to move in a positive direction."

The student nominator added, "Thank you, Jennifer. Thank you for making a dream a reality. Thank you for filling me with confidence and enabling my success. Thank you for caring."

Poulter is an academic advisor in the WIU University Advising and Academic Support office. She was nominated by advisee Meghan Haupers, a senior English major from Algonquin (IL), who said, "Ellen is calm, welcoming and always attentive."

"It's good to have an advisor willing to listen to your concerns and help guide you to the best path for you," said Haupers. "I'm so thankful to have had Ellen's help throughout my education experience."

The purpose of COAA is to promote the quality of academic advising at Western Illinois University.
