MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University Vice President for the Quad Cities and Planning Joe Rives has been elected vice president/president-elect for the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA).

NABCA is a professional organization committed to supporting the mission and goals of higher education professionals who work at a location that is separate from the parent campus. Rives was named vice president of the Quad Cities in August 2008. He joined Western's administration in 2005.

"As the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators continues its efforts of promoting and providing educational access for students in the 21st century, it is essential that our leadership has a vision and is action-oriented to support campuses, administrators, faculty, staff and stakeholders," said NACABA President Faimous Harrison. "Dr. Rives is equipped with the tools to accomplish this while continuing our efforts of advancing teaching, learning and applying research for our global community."

In his roles as vice president of the WIU-Quad Cities campus, Rives serves as the University's point of contact for Quad Cities economic development issues, corporate partnerships, leadership for University-wide planning and is responsible for institutional accreditation reporting for the Higher Learning Commission-North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Rives also works with Illinois, Iowa and Missouri community colleges and regional high schools to institute collaborative educational paths, and has responsibility for the administration and planning for the Quad Cities campus.

Rives also serves as chair of Renew Moline's Project Management Team and is a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, and serves as a persistence and completion mentor for the Commission.
