Director of Financial Aid Interview May 17

MACOMB, IL -- Terri Hare, director of University Scholarship Activities at Western Illinois University, has been invited to interview for the director of financial aid Tuesday, May 17. An open session will be held from 10:30-11 a.m. in the financial aid conference room (Sherman Hall).

Hare has served in her current role since March 2010. Previously, she was the associate director of financial aid at WIU from 2008-2010. She has worked in the financial aid office in various capacities since 1984, including financial aid adviser (I, II, III and IV) and secretary II.

She is a member of the National Scholarship Providers Association and is a member of the scholarship review team for the Thurgood Marshall and Central (Maryland) scholarships. Hare has also served as a member of the Illinois Association of Financial Aid Administrators. On campus, she has served on numerous committees, including the Western Commitment Appeals (chair), Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals and Administrative Hearing. She is a University 100 instructor and an adviser to the WIU Humane Society Service Association.

Hare earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from WIU.

The director of financial aid is responsible for directing and supervising all operations of financial aid, scholarship and student employment programs, including all office operations, program administration, fiscal affairs and budgetary functions for a multi-million dollar enterprise which provides aid and services to well over 70 percent of the University's students and families. The director also develops and implements the overall philosophy, goals, operating procedures and principles for the University's comprehensive student financial aid program.
