WIU: Who We Are, What We Do

Behind the bricks and mortar, there are the people of Western Illinois University and the Macomb community.

Who I Am: I'm Kristina Breidenstein, a second year graduate student in Clinical/Community Mental Health Psychology. I am from Geneseo, IL. My mom and brother are both graduates of WIU as well. Bleeding yellow and purple is a trait that runs in my family. I am an energetic, enthusiastic, and warm person.

What I Do: Aside from being a full time graduate student at WIU, I am a 200-hour registered yoga teacher. I teach yoga here at WIU and in the community at Summer Moon Yoga. Come join me for a class sometime! It's always free at the student recreation center and your first class is free at Summer Moon Yoga. In my free time, I practice yoga, make and sell hula hoops, and love being outdoors, especially at this time of year. The campus landscape is brought to life during this season. It's wonderful seeing spring come into bloom at WIU on my daily walks and bike rides around campus.

Why I Love WIU: WIU to me means community. Although the campus is big, I frequently get to see my fellow yogis, classmates, and other friends walking around. The feeling of community even comes from total strangers, friendly smiles around here are seem to be contagious.
