WIU CSP alumnus Paul Brown's presentation will cover the use of social media and technology in higher education. Brown is a full-time Ph.D. student at Boston College in the higher education program and was most recently the acting assistant vice president and dean of students at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

WIU College Student Personnel/Student Services Summer Institute June 23-24 at WIU-Macomb

MACOMB, IL — Current students in, and alumni of, Western Illinois University's College Student Personnel (CSP) Program, as well as current and former WIU student services staff, are invited to attend the biennial WIU CSP-Student Services Summer Institute Thursday-Friday, June 23-24, on the WIU-Macomb campus. (See www.wiu.edu/student_services/vpss/summer_institute/ for the full event schedule, including a golf outing, as well as registration information. Registration is open through Friday, June 10.)

WIU CSP alumna Deborah Garrett is the scheduled keynoted speaker. During her presentation, she will provide insight about how to conduct assessment using the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS). Garrett serves as the vice chancellor for student services at Arkansas State University-Beebe and as the president of CAS.

In addition, WIU CSP alumnus Paul Brown's presentation will cover the use of social media and technology in higher education. Brown is a full-time Ph.D. student at Boston College in the higher education program and was most recently the acting assistant vice president and dean of students at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

According to organizers, the WIU CSP-Student Services Summer Institute will provide opportunities to enhance skills and expertise regarding such key higher education topics as Title IX. The event is designed to foster collaboration among student services professionals.

Individuals can register for the WIU CSP-Student Services Summer Institute for $30 and the registration fee includes meals, all sessions and a drink at the event's welcome reception. Registration for the golf outing is $30 (includes breakfast, nine holes of golf, use of a cart and non-alcoholic drinks). Dinner at Magnolia's (downtown Macomb) after the Welcome Reception is at each individual's own expense, and dinner reservations are required.
