Rives Named Male Champion of Change

MOLINE, IL -- Joe Rives, Western Illinois University vice president of the Quad Cities and planning has been named one of the 2016 Male Champions of Change by the Women's Connection and Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.

"It is a great honor and humbling to receive this award," said Rives. "Those recognized are great leaders and champions of diversity and achievement in the Quad Cities. And this award, which is really a tribute to all of us at WIU-QC, shows how we work together to achieve our goals and ideals."

Rives joined Western's administration in 2005, and is the University's point of contact for Quad Cities economic development issues, corporate partnerships, leadership for University-wide master planning and and is responsible for institutional accreditation reporting for the Higher Learning Commission-North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Rives also works with Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri community colleges and regional high schools to institute collaborative educational paths, and has responsibility for the administration and planning for the Quad Cities campus. Rives also serves as chair of Renew Moline's Project Management Team and is a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, and serves as a Persistence and Completion mentor for the Commission. He was named Quad Cities Man of the Year in 2015.

The honorees will be recognized during the 2016 Athena event March 31.
