MACOMB, IL – High school senior Gretchen Sadler, of Hamilton, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Sadler hopes to major in communication sciences and disorders at Western.

She said one of the reasons she chose Western was because it "has a lot of opportunities for their students, along with plenty of good programs."

In high school, Sadler participated in dance team, basketball, WYSE, student council and band.

After graduation, Sadler hopes to continue on to graduate school to become a speech therapist.
