WIU Department of Art Hosts First Wednesdays

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University's Department of Art will be hosting First Wednesdays. These events will take place every first Wednesday of the month and will be open to individuals who want to make art. The first event will take place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3 in Garwood Hall and the Heating Plant Annex. These events are open free to the public.

First Wednesdays' participants will have the opportunity to learn the Intaglio printmaking process with Art Professor Bill Howard; explore the art of drawing with Professors Jan Clough and Julie Mahoney; screen print their own Valentine's Day cards with BFA student Erin Lundgren; get their hands muddy in the ceramics studio with BFA student Cassie Loos; and create forged copper wire pendants in the metal smithing studio with Professor Kat Myers.

Parents, too, can stop by with the kids to make a special Valentine's Day creation with Associate Professor Ta-Teh Ku and his art education students.

The other upcoming First Wednesdays are listed below:

  • March 2 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Apr. 6 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • May 4 from 7 p.m. -9 p.m.
