MACOMB, IL -- Think Purple, Think Playoffs, Think Western Illinois University!

WIU alumni and friends in west central Illinois are invited to take part in the WIU Alumni Association Leatherneck Playoff Viewing Party beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Sports Corner, 124 N. Randolph, Macomb. Leatherneck Football takes on the Dayton Flyers at 11 a.m.

Everyone is welcome and the first 100 people wearing WIU apparel and checking in as guests of the Alumni Association will receive a 2016 Col. Rock III calendar, courtesy of the Division of Advancement and Public Services and the WIU Foundation. WIU gear and other door prizes will also be given throughout the game.

For the first time since 2010, and the 10th time in program history, Western returns to the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs when it travels to Dayton Saturday. The winner will face Missouri Valley Football Conference co-champion Illinois State (#2 overall seed) the following Saturday, December 5.

Western closed out the regular season with consecutive overtime wins, most recently a double-overtime home win over then fifth-ranked South Dakota State, 30-24. That victory improved WIU to 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

The win also created a three-way tie for third place in the nation's toughest FCS conference, and Western held a tie-breaker over SDSU and Northern Iowa. In all, the MVFC sent five teams to the postseason.

For more information on the WIU Alumni Association Nov. 28 Viewing Party, call (309) 298-1914 or email A-Association@wiu.edu. The event is open and free to the public; the Sports Corner offers a full bar and menu for beverage and food purchases.
