MACOMB, IL — Tri-States Audio Information Services (AIS) at Western Illinois University will host a Trivia Night and Silent Auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in the University Union Lamoine Room.

Teams of six may register to compete in the trivia night for $120 per team; WIU student teams of six may register for $60 per team. To register, call AIS Director Jane Carlson at (309) 298-2403. Space is limited.

All proceeds will benefit Tri-States Audio Information Services, which makes quality audio programming available to individuals who are blind, visually impaired, physically disabled or developmentally disabled through its Radio Information Service and Web Streaming Service.

"This annual fundraiser allows us buy new radios for listeners, purchase subscriptions to newspapers and magazines and cover other general operating expenses that help us fulfill our mission of fostering equal access to printed materials," Carlson said.

The event will be emceed by Rich Egger, news director for Tri States Public Radio, and will feature 10 rounds of 10 questions. Mulligans are included in the cost of registration. Light snacks will be provided and a cash bar will be available.

Other features of the event include a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction with numerous gift certificates from local and regional businesses, local artwork and handcrafted pieces, and household items up for bid.

"Last year was our first time doing a Trivia Night," said Carlson. "It was a very successful evening, bringing together community members and our many volunteers to have a great time while raising money for an important cause. We're excited to be putting on this event again this year."

Because this year's event is on Halloween, costumes are welcome, but not required. Those wanting to watch the trivia competition and/or place bids at the silent auction are welcome to attend at no charge.

Tri-States AIS provides quality audio programming to individuals with disabilities in all or part of 20 counties in west central Illinois, southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri. It is a volunteer-driven service of Tri States Public Radio and Western Illinois University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. Additional funding is provided by the Illinois State Library, area United Ways, Lions Clubs and is supplemented by fundraisers and business, organization and individual contributions.
