MOLINE, IL — Western Illinois University Libraries will host a reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, to celebrate a generous donation from Quad Citians Affirming Diversity (QCAD). The reception will he heold in the WIU-QC library, 3300 River Dr., Moline.

After QCAD moved to a new Rock Island, IL, location, the organization donated its entire library to Western, and now those books reside in both the Macomb and Quad Cities libraries. The collection of more than 1,400 titles includes a focus on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, asexual/ally (LGBTQA) issues.

"QCAD's primary concern was that the books were accessible," according to WIU-QC Librarian Tom Finley. "By placing the books in our libraries' collections, it effectively makes them accessible to a very large audience, essentially every student at every public (and many private) college and university libraries and every public library throughout the state of Illinois, " Finley said.

The collection is available for public check-out through the inter-library loan option.
