MACOMB, IL - The Beta Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Alpha (ΑΣΑ) national sorority was reinstalled Saturday, May 3, after being absent from Western Illinois University's campus since 2003.

The charter was presented to Βeta Κappa members by ΑΣΑ's current National President, Melissa Koch Merriam.

Thirty-five members were initiated, with one being the chapter's membership education advisor, Rebecca Richards, as an alumna initiate. Five women were also named charter new members.

Members celebrated with alumnae from the Beta Kappa chapter, collegiate members of other nearby ΑΣΑ chapters, national council members, district volunteers, University administrators, WIU sorority presidents, family and friends.

Founded in 1901 at Longwood University in Farmville, VA, the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority is dedicated to fostering close friendships between members and developing women of poise and purpose.
