Kline and Thorman Joint Retirement Reception April 29

MACOMB, IL - - A retirement reception will be held for WIU Institutional Research and Planning Director Rhonda Kline and Information Technology Manager Sue Thorman from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 in the Sherman Hall third floor auditorium. Both Kline and Thorman will retire May 1.

Kline received her bachelor's degree in business, administrative office management in 1987 and her master's in geography in 1996 from Western. In July 1981, she was hired as a secretary in Institutional Research and Planning at WIU. She continued to work her way up through various positions until she was promoted to assistant director in July 2000. Kline was named director of Institutional Research and Planning in February 2006.

Thorman received her bachelor's degree in information science in 1986 from WIU. She began working at Western in 1979 as extra help as a tab machine operator in the computer center during her senior year of high school as part of the co-op program. She moved to a full-time position, a digital computer operator, in 1981. Thorman was promoted into numerous positions in Computer Services, later named Administrative Computing, during her 30-year tenure. She has served as information technology manager in Institutional Research and Planning since 2009.
