MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois School of Music's collegiate chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) recently participated in the "Adopt A Classroom" program at Lincoln Elementary in Macomb.

WIU students met with and performed for second graders at Lincoln School. This was a first-time sponsorship for the School of Music.

Faculty advisor Tammie Walker was approached by Lincoln School second grade teacher Amy Morris about bringing music students into the classroom. The members of MTNA were excited about bringing music to the children.

"The 'Adopt a Classroom' initiative is a great program and we're happy to be a part of it; practical experiences like these really validate and motivate our music students," she said. "We're looking forward to our final classroom visit at the end of the month."
