MACOMB, IL – St. Louis, MO artist Lyndon Barrois, Jr. will exhibit "For the Benefit of Man," through Friday, March 20 in the third floor art gallery of Garwood Hall.

The exhibit is a mixed-media installation of altered photography, painting, garments, sculptural objects and display fixtures all crafted by Barrois.

He said the installation makes references to poetry, comics, sports, fashion, film and
painting, "all under the influence of heroics and self-construction."

"It notes the super heroic connotations of athletic performance and gentlemanly attire," said Barrois. "Through linking these three masculine archetypes, the exhibition aims for an ambiguous context for the viewer to be confronted with the desire present in the construction of their identity."

Barrois received his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Art as a Chancellor's graduate fellow. He received his bachelor's degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

His work has been included in exhibitions at the Santa Monica (CA) Museum of Art; the Mildred Lane Kemper Museum of Art, St. Louis; the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh; the Luminary Center for the Arts, St. Louis; Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts, St. Louis; and the Hirvitalo Center for Contemporary Art Pispala, Finland.

Barrois is an adjunct faculty member in design at Webster University. His work
explores questions of aesthetic value, experiential presence and the ways
in which objects and images organize conduct.
