MACOMB, IL – United High School senior Ethan Bitar, of Monmouth, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

"Western is affordable and simultaneously able to provide me with a strong education," he said of his decision. "A student should consider Western primarily because of its care for students."

Bitar said he expects to major in psychology, Spanish and law at Western. After graduation, he would like to move on to law school.

In high school, Bitar participated in varsity track, golf, WYSE and ICTM.
