MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University students who visit the Career Development Center (CDC) for career assistance can have their résumés reviewed and/or obtain help with job interview preparation. Now, students can also walk away with a set of professional clothes or a business suit for their employment-search needs.

Located in Memorial Hall 125, staff in Western's CDC have opened a professional clothing closet, full of suits, blouses, pants, ties and other professional items donated by WIU staff, faculty and alumni. When choosing a name for this service, the staff in the CDC decided to use the office mascot "Captain Careers" for inspiration—hence the name: "The Captain's Closet."

"We started this clothing closet to help meet the needs of our student population. Purchasing professional attire is expensive, especially for college students. The benefit of our specific service is our on-campus location and that students do not pay for anything from the clothing closet," noted CDC Director Martin Kral. "Generous Western alumni and staff have donated many quality business suits and pieces of professional attire, and we welcome more donations at any time."

Students can stop by the CDC during regular business hours 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday to peruse the attire. For more information about the Captain's Closet, contact the CDC at (309) 298-1838.
