MACOMB, IL – South Elgin High School senior Logan Brown, of South Elgin, IL, has been awarded a President's Scholarship to Western Illinois University, which covers four years of tuition, fees and residence hall room and board at the school.

Brown plans to major in mathematics education at Western. In high school he was involved in a variety of activities, including National Honor Society, concert, marching and pep band, church youth group, Bible study, peer tutoring, Relay for Life, library volunteering and Ultimate Frisbee Club.

After graduation from WIU, Brown would like to teach high school math and then pursue his master's degree so he could teach at the college level.

The Western Illinois University President's Scholarship Fund provides scholarships each year to students at the University. To qualify for one of the four annual scholarships, students must have a minimum ACT score of 30 and have already received WIU's Centennial Commitment Scholarship. Decisions on scholarship winners are made after the finalists come to campus for interviews.
