MACOMB, IL -- Students at Iowa Wesleyan College (IWC) will have expanded educational opportunities as a result of a new partnership between Western Illinois University and IWC.

Western and IWC signed a Memorandum of Understanding Nov. 19 that provides collaborative opportunities to coordinate programs to meet the educational needs of students in the west central Illinois and southeastern Iowa regions.

"The partnership with Iowa Wesleyan College provides additional educational opportunities for students who are seeking to further their education beyond a bachelor's degree. It was an honor to have IWC President Steven Titus and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean Dick McCallum on our campus and to sign this mutually beneficial agreement with Iowa Wesleyan College," said WIU President Jack Thomas.

According to WIU Provost Ken Hawkinson, the partnership between the two higher education institutions will streamline the bachelor's to master's degree transition. IWC students can enroll at Western and obtain a master's degree in select programs in 12-14 months. The agreement also allows for enhanced faculty research opportunities, and provides educational opportunities for IWC personnel who wish to obtain a graduate degree.

"We are delighted to partner with WIU. It always is a winning proposition when institutions collaborate to create educational and career opportunities for students," said IWC President Titus. "Through this new collaboration between Iowa Wesleyan and Western Illinois we are able to create pathways to a broad range of graduate programs for our students, as well as help WIU attract strong students into those graduate programs. We look forward to our work together in the years ahead."
