Buchanan Awarded WIU President's Scholarship

MACOMB, IL — High school senior Liam Buchanan, of Maquon, IL, has been awarded a President's Scholarship to Western Illinois University, which covers four years of tuition, fees and residence hall room and board at the school.

Buchanan plans to major in electrical engineering at Western. In high school, he was involved in a variety of activities including 4-H, National Honor Society, drama club, scholastic bowl, tutoring and numerous others.

After graduation from WIU, Buchanan plans to pursue a graduate degree and then pursue a career in his field of study.

The Western Illinois University President's Scholarship Fund provides scholarships each year to students at the University. To qualify for one of the four annual scholarships, students must have a minimum ACT score of 30 and have already received WIU's Centennial Commitment Scholarship. Decisions on scholarship winners are made after the finalists come to campus for interviews.
