"A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer" Coming to WIU in 2015

MACOMB, IL - - Thirteen Western Illinois University students, one staff member and four community members have been cast for the 2015 performance of Eve Ensler's "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer," which will be performed at 7 p.m. on Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 19-21 in the WIU Multicultural Center.

Tuesdai B. Perry, a senior theatre major from Gary, IN, will direct the production. Women's Center Graduate Assistant Alondra Olvera, of Waukegan, IL, a first year graduate student in Western's college student personnel program, is serving as production coordinator. Women's Center Director Janine Cavicchia is the production adviser.

"A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer" is part of the V-Day College Campaign, sponsored locally by the WIU Women's Center and Western's Feminist Action Alliance (FAA) student organization. This year's spotlight campaign is "One Billion Rising for Justice."

Money raised by the performance will be donated to organizations and causes that provide violence prevention education and survivor support services, including the Women's Center, the Interpersonal Violence Prevention Initiative, the University Counseling Center, the Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency Victim Services and the V-Day Foundation.

Tickets will go on sale after Dec. 5 and may be purchased in the Women's Center, Multicultural Center, room 209, as well as at tables in the Union Concourse in January and February and from V-Team (cast and crew) members. Payment can be made by cash or check, payable to the WIU Women's Center.
