MOLINE, IL - The Geneseo Foundation's purpose is to ensure growth and vitality for future generations, and supporting education is one if its primary areas of focus.

Recently, The Geneseo Foundation made a $10,000 commitment for an electronic classroom at the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus. Half of this pledge was leveraged as a four-to-one match during a fundraising campaign. Residents and businesses of Geneseo contributed to reach the $25,000 goal.

The Geneseo Foundation has been a leading contributor to a number of philanthropic projects and scholarships to benefit Geneseo and surrounding communities. There are currently more than 140 Geneseo High School graduates attending Western Illinois University and more than 900 WIU alumni living within 15 miles of Geneseo.

On June 20, 1961, a wish was granted. George B. Dedrick left $1 million dollars of his estate to establish The Geneseo Foundation. His hope was that others would contribute funds to benefit the community of Geneseo and surrounding area in Illinois.
