MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Office of Admissions and Centennial Honors College recently partnered for the inaugural Centennial Honors Scholarship Interview Day Oct. 15, where some of the best WIU applicants were invited to vie the University's full-ride President's Scholarships.

According to Andy Borst, admissions director, students with at least a 3.0 grade point average and 30+ ACT score were invited to take part in a day of activities that included touring campus, meeting faculty, staff and students and learning about Honors College opportunities at Western. Each prospective student also took part in a 20-minute interview with a panel of faculty and staff.

"It was a wonderful opportunity meeting so many talented students. The students invited to take part in this day are among some of the best and brightest in the state," President Jack Thomas noted. "It was a pleasure sharing with the students and their families the wonderful opportunities that await at Western Illinois University."

Finalists will be announced in approximately two weeks, with four students selected by President Thomas for the President's Scholarship, which is valued at $83,000 and covers tuition, fees and room and board for four years.

"Scholarship Day is a win-win situation for both Western Illinois University and our honors students. This event allows Western to enhance its academic standing and profile, while providing gifted students an enriched curriculum," said Rick Hardy, Centennial Honors College director.
