MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Panhellenic Council will host its first Zombie 5K at Spring Lake Park, north of Macomb, Saturday, Nov. 1.

A children's costume run will begin noon and the Zombie Run at 2 p.m. The costume run, for children ages 4 and older, will feature the opportunity to run a short course in their Halloween costume. Participants get a free t-shirt with registration, and other children's activities will be available.

At the start of the Zombie Run, participants will get a belt with three flags on it, and the objective is to make it to the end of the three-mile course with at least one flag left. Zombies will be stationed throughout the course and will chase participants at various course locations in an effort to steal their flags.

Refreshments will be available at the race and water stations will be available throughout the course.

Proceeds from the run will be donated to the Samaritan Well in Macomb.

Registration, $25 for adults and $15 for children, can be completed at runsignup.com/Race/IL/Macomb/PanhellenicZombie5K.
