Luka Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Mount Zion High School senior Melinda Luka, of Decatur, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Luka said she expects to major in forensic chemistry at Western.

"I selected Western because of its outstanding criminal justice and science programs," she said. "Western has a beautiful campus and easy access to resources for whatever you need."

After graduation, Luka would like to work in a crime laboratory.

In high school, Luka participated in drama club, creative writing, FCCLA, National Honors Society, physics club, scholastic bowl and was active in her church.
