Celebration of Life for Eric Stiffler Oct. 11

MACOMB, IL -- A celebration of life for retired Western Illinois University Professor and Administrator Eric Stiffler will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Dr. Mel and Judy Kerr farm (545 Maryland Road, Macomb).

Refreshments will be served. Members of the University and Macomb communities are invited. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to University Honors Program at WIU.

Stiffler was appointed acting provost and academic vice president in 2001, serving two years in that role before returning to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies until his retirement in 2005. A member of the WIU faculty since 1977, Stiffler served as a professor of philosophy and religious studies, and in 1987, he was named director of WIU's honors program. In 1989, Stiffler was named assistant provost and academic vice president for curriculum. In 1991, he was appointed to the position of associate provost and academic vice president.
