MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University's Career Development Center (CDC) announces its new, online recruiting database, "Leatherneck Link."

According to Michelle Howe, assistant director in the WIU CDC, this system replaces the eRecruiting/Experience system, which has recently ceased operations. Students and alumni who have already registered with eRecruiting will need to re-register with Leatherneck Link at https://wiu-csm.symplicity.com/.

"Online recruiting databases are used during the job searching process at most colleges and universities around the world," Howe explained. "These databases traditionally allow employers to create accounts to post jobs and internships available at their organizations, making it easier for students to have access to job listings within their chosen career fields. To access these job listings, students also create accounts, upload their résumés and can research the companies connected to the school's individual recruiting system."

For those familiar with eRecruiting, Leatherneck Link will operate similarly to the previous system, Howe noted.

"Within Leatherneck Link, you are able to upload résumés and writing samples, view available jobs and internships with our employer contacts, sign up for on-campus interviews and sync your LinkedIn account with the system. One new feature we are using for Leatherneck Link is the 'faculty module.' This module allows faculty and staff at WIU to email job postings to students, view employer contacts in our system and keep informed of Career Development Center events and career fairs," Howe said.

To create an account, WIU faculty and staff members can contact the Career Development Center at (309) 298-1838 or visit Memorial Hall, room 125.

"As we continue to utilize this system, we hope to add more helpful features for students, faculty and our CDC staff," Howe added. "The mission of the Career Development Center is to support students and alumni by empowering individuals to create and achieve their career goals through active career planning and preparation. The CDC offers engaging programming through individual appointments, workshops and partnerships with employers and faculty and staff members to ensure a successful transition between college and professional careers."
