MACOMB, IL - The University Art Gallery will host a program for the community in conjunction with the Western Illinois University Family Day activities, Saturday, Sept. 13.

The program, scheduled 11 a.m.-2 p.m., will offer short gallery talks on the two current exhibitions, "Perceptions: Exploring Self and Identity through Art and Writing" and "Etty Yaniv: Variable States of Suspension," as well as a hands-on activity designed for creative people of all ages. The free activity is inspired by the collages and paper sculptures on display in the exhibition, "Etty Yaniv: Variable States of Suspension," and will be led by Rhonda Lydeard, community education specialist at the University Art Gallery.

"We are all moving, animated and alive yet sometimes stopped, caught or may even feel suspended; all of these are interesting states of mind," said Lydeard. "Etty Yaniv's art reveals, and at the same time conceals, these kinds of experiences that we all may have. Create your own variable state of suspension and see it come to life before your eyes."

Refreshments will be served, and admission is free.
