MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Multimedia Communications Supervisor Justin Georges, from University Libraries, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for August.

Georges was hired at WIU in July 2009 as an instructional materials specialist. His title was changed to his current position in April 2012.

According to Georges' nominator he "works well with everyone and brings enthusiasm and creativity to work every day."

"His work in creating various guides for the library has brought the library's instruction to a new level," his nominator added. "Justin is always willing to be a team player, and he often goes unrecognized for his creativity and effort."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Barnett at AA-Barnett@wiu.edu.
