WIU Night at the Burlington Bees Game Aug. 13

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Alumni Association will host an alumni event at the Aug. 13 Burlington Bees baseball game and celebrate the numerous WIU alumni who work for the team.

WIU President Jack Thomas and Alumni Director Amy Spelman will welcome alumni, friends and family for a night of food, fun and baseball as the Bees take on the Peoria Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. at Community Field in Burlington, IA.

The event will be held on the field's Budweiser Party Deck, with gates opening and the picnic beginning at 5:30 p.m. Admission for adults, ages 15 and older, is $14 per person and youth tickets, ages 14 and under, are $12 per person. Each admission fee includes a game ticket and food vouchers for two sandwiches, Sterzing's potato chips and a 20 oz. Pepsi product.

WIU Director of Admissions Andy Borst, Admissions Counselor Melissa Yeast, a 2008 WIU graduate, and Centennial Honors College Director Rick Hardy, a 1970 WIU graduate and Burlington native, will also join in the event.

The Bees' roster and front office contain numerous WIU alumni, including the team's pitcher, Brian Loconsole, a 2013 graduate with a degree in psychology, who was named Midwest Pitcher of the Week in June.

Other alumni working for the Bees include Michael Broskowski, a 2013 graduate with a degree in broadcasting, who does play-by-play announcing and is director of media relations; Jill Mason, a 2008 graduate with a degree in marketing, who is director of ticket sales and merchandising; Nick Waterman, a 2012 and 2014 graduate with a bachelor's degree in management and a master's degree in sport management and Kim Parker, a 2008 graduate with a degree in Spanish, who is director of group outings.
