MACOMB, IL – Even though the Performing Arts Society's (PAS) annual gala and silent auction is not until November, organizers are building excitement for this year's "Casablanca" themed event.

On Monday, Aug. 11 at The Forum in downtown Macomb, the PAS will host a free screening of the movie "Casablanca," accompanied by a free dance lesson to teach moves from the era. A social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a dance lesson by WIU Associate Professor Heidi Clemmens at 6:30 p.m. and the movie at 7 p.m.

During the 100-minute film, shown on the big screen at The Forum, free popcorn and movie candy will be available, as well as a cash bar.

The film is set in WW II and focuses on a man torn between love and virtue. He must choose between his love for a woman and helping her Czech Resistance leader husband escape the Vichy-controlled Moroccan city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Nazis.

Performing Arts Society 2014 Gala and Silent Auction "Casablanca...Here's looking at you, Kid!" will be held from 5-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 in the University Union at Western Illinois University. For more information about the PAS, visit wiu.edu/pas.
