Schlag Named New Associate Director of WIU Centennial Honors College

MACOMB, IL – Associate Professor Paul A. Schlag, of the Western Illinois University Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA), has been appointed associate director of the University's Centennial Honors College.

Schlag earned his doctoral degree in recreation and leisure studies at the University of Georgia in 2007, holds a master's degree in instructional technology from the University of Georgia, a master's degree in public administration from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and a bachelor's degree in recreation management and youth leadership from Brigham Young University.

"We are delighted that Dr. Schlag will be joining our honors staff," noted Rick Hardy, director of the Honors College. "Dr. Schlag has demonstrated a strong commitment to Honors education and has an impressive record of active civic engagement in working with student organizations."

At WIU, Schlag served as the assistant department chair and teaches a wide range of courses regarding leadership and management of leisure services. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Provost's Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award (2013), the Panhellenic Council Outstanding Teacher Award (2013), the College of Education and Human Services Faculty Teaching Excellence Award (2013).
