MACOMB, IL -- Throughout the spring semester, Western Illinois University will offer a glimpse of campus life to high school seniors and help students take the next steps as a Western student by hosting several events for admitted students both on campus and in the Chicagoland area.

According to WIU Admissions Director Andy Borst, these events are designed to give future students the opportunity to prepare for the fall semester by meeting faculty, staff, and other admitted WIU students. During the off campus receptions and daily on campus visits, students will register for summer orientation, learn more about financial aid and living in the residence halls, get help with roommate selection and complete enrollment deposits.

WIU will host four welcome receptions for admitted students in the Chicagoland area. Each reception will begin at 2 p.m.:

Feb. 8 (Saturday): Tinley Park (Tinley Park Convention Center)
Feb. 9 (Sunday): Oak Brook (Oak Brook Hills Resort)
Feb. 22 (Saturday): Oak Lawn (Hilton Oak Lawn)
Feb. 23 (Sunday): Schaumburg (Chicago Marriott Schaumburg)

"We want to make the college transition process as easy as possible for our prospective students and their families," Borst added. "We understand that our families have limited time. By bringing Western to them, they can get their questions answered in person, without leaving their community."

WIU will also host special on-campus programs on Fridays in March and April for admitted students to explore specific majors on campus:

March 14: Psychology
March 28: Biology
April 4: Elementary Education
April 11: Business

The University will continue to host Monday through Saturday visits on the Macomb campus for prospective students, including open house programs Monday, Feb.17 and Saturday, March 22.The University will also offer free Amtrak tickets for accepted new freshmen to come to campus for an official admissions visit (until May 1).
