WIU's OPS Conducts Holiday Enforcement Patrols

MACOMB, IL - As part of a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety (OPS) conducted increased traffic enforcement during the holiday period of Dec. 20-Jan. 5.

During this period, OPS officers conducted extra patrol/enforcement to enforce seat belt and impaired driving laws.

During the operations of this grant period, OPS issued 12 citations, including the arrest of two subjects for driving while license was suspended or revoked, seven seat belt citations, one uninsured motorist citation and two speeding tickets.

OPS will conduct additional enforcement campaigns in the future.
