MACOMB, IL – According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, Western Illinois University is among the top master's degree granting institutions in the number of Fulbright Scholars named at their school during 2013.

This year, Western has three faculty members who were named scholars, including Management and Marketing Professor Joseph Dobson, who will teach in Romania in Spring 2014; WIU-QC Assistant English Professor Daniel Malachuk, who will teach in Germany in Spring and Summer 2014; and History Associate Professor Tim Roberts, who is currently teaching in China and will return in Summer 2014.

WIU ranks at the top of the list, along with such institutions as Missouri State University and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

The Fulbright program offers grants to study, teach and conduct research for U.S. citizens to travel abroad and for international residents to visit the United States. The program is designed to increase understanding between U.S. residents and the rest of the world.

In addition to the faculty Fulbright recipients, Western Illinois University had one student chosen for a Fulbright Scholarship this year. Joshua Wood, a graduate student in economics, will teach English in South Korea during the 2013-2014 academic year.
