MACOMB, IL – Shelly Crosier, a staff nurse II at Beu Health Center, has been named the Western Illinois University Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for October.

Crosier was hired in December 2010 to her current position. Her multiple nominators called her "one of the best nurses at the health center who demonstrates professionalism on a daily basis."

"She is conscientious, responsible, good under pressure, dependable, enthusiastic and is committed to doing her job with great consistency and dedication while serving the students at Western," her nominators said. "She is always positive and is a valuable asset to the nursing staff. Shelly frequently fills in for multiple other positions and can work anywhere she is placed and does a great job. Shelly serves as an example to others, has a good rapport with the students and is respected by the staff and her peers."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque. The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Barnett at AA-Barnett@wiu.edu.
