Big Picture, NCOD Activities

MACOMB, IL -- To commemorate National Coming Out Day Oct. 11, a variety of activities have been scheduled beginning Monday, Oct. 7.

The ninth annual "The Big Picture" will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 7. The photograph of gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgendered students, faculty, staff and community members, along with their family, friends and allies, will be taken on the Sherman Hall front steps Oct. 7 (rain location: Sherman Hall third floor auditorium). All members of the Western and Macomb communities are invited to participate as a show of support.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Macomb attorney Anne Burton will discuss lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal issues from noon-1 p.m. in Malpass Library 180, and from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in room 103 on the WIU-Quad Cities Riverfront campus. The presentations are open free to the public.

A "Big Picture" event will also be held at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, October 10 in the Goldfarb Atrium on the WIU-Quad Cities Riverfront campus.

National Coming Out Day (NCOD) will be celebrated across the U.S. on Friday, Oct. 11. National Coming Out Day was founded Oct. 11, 1988 by Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary to celebrate the first anniversary of the 1987 march on Washington.
