MACOMB, IL — Students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to take part in Western Illinois University's annual Homecoming kick-off tradition, Paint the Paws. This year, the event is slated for Friday, Oct. 4 as the official start to Homecoming Week 2013 (Saturday, Oct. 5–Saturday, Oct. 12) on the WIU-Macomb campus.

Hosted by the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC), the yearly Paint the Paws event involves the painting of more than 200 paws along University Drive and Western Avenue.

On Friday, Oct. 4, SALC will host two Paint the Paws shifts, the first one beginning at 1 p.m. and the second beginning at 3 p.m. First-shift painters should check in at Western Hall by 12:45 p.m. and second-shift painters should check in by 2:45 p.m. SALC will provide supplies to all attendees and groups.

Student groups, as well as campus faculty, staff and alumni, interested in participating should contact Amber Bedee at AR-Bedee@wiu.edu. Pre-registration is not required; all are invited to participate.
