Carlson Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Aurora Central Catholic High School senior Clae Carlson, of Sugar Grove, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Carlson said he will likely major in pre-medicine at Western.

"I chose Western because it has the academics that I need with the opportunity to attend by utilizing an outstanding financial aid package," Carlson said. "Western should be considered for its variety of majors, convenience of location and affordable tuition.

At Western, Carlson said he hopes to participate in art- and running-related activities.

In high school, Carlson participated in cross country and the art and math honor societies.

After graduation from WIU, Carlson plans to attend medical school.
